If you’re anything like me, I’m sure that you’re hoping for a summer getaway this year. Knowing how turbulent things are at the minute, I thought I’d put together some of my favourite luxury family friendly hotels across the UK in case going abroad isn’t a possibility. With the demands of homeschooling, lockdown and working from home taking over, here is some much needed inspiration for hopefully more positive months to come!
Heckfield Place - Hampshire Hills
Heckfield Place in the Hampshire Hills will give you the ultimate escape. The stunning countryside setting is enough to make anyone relax and the recent makeover means you will be staying in the height of luxury. The best bit of all, you will be greeted with a sommelier-chosen bottle of wine on arrival!
Before you get concerned about taking your little ones to somewhere so exclusive (as I know I would), this is definitely a luxury family friendly hotel. The whole family will be welcomed with open arms and provided the best service. Only over-16’s can stay in the main house rooms, however there are stunning chamber and master rooms that welcome children, which you wouldn’t want to miss out on anyway. The Marle restaurant also has a children’s menu which will keep them happy!
The Hampshire Hills are renowned for their beauty and wide range of walking routes, giving you plenty of options for days out. If you manage to walk further than a couple of miles with your children then I salute you, although if you have a baby I’d highly recommend an Ergo baby carrier so you can enjoy the countryside with your little one whilst still being comfortable. Trying to get any pushchair through mountainous terrain is a challenge, so this is a great solution!
The Pig at Harlyn Bay - Cornwall
For something closer to the sea, you can’t beat The Pig at Harlyn Bay. This hotel is near to the luxury town Padstow and it offers an array of homegrown and local delicacies including lobster and ice cream. I don’t know about you, but that’s my dream combination! Cornwall is beautiful all year round so makes a fantastic place for your getaway. Plus, the hotel is extremely family friendly so you will all feel comfortable.
The luxury family friendly hotel has a restaurant and bar with great choice and a casual dress code meaning you can fully unwind without trying to do your hair and makeup whilst surrounded by little ones. The restaurant has plenty of baby changing facilities and will happily accommodate any needs such as heating baby food or milk. You can benefit from a luxury family friendly hotel whilst also being able to de-stress in a relaxed environment.
There are some beautiful windy country paths as well as easy access to stunning local beaches. For a summer trip, I will never leave without Lula-Ru swimwear. Not only are they stunning but provide amazing support so we don’t need to hold back when playing with the kids. If you’re feeling really brave and your kids are a bit older, The Pig teamed up with various surf schools to provide private lessons. Perhaps you could leave the little ones in the safe hands of the instructors and get a few minutes to yourself on the beach!
The Lakes By Yoo - Cotswolds
When I go away, I want to be able to let the kids let off some steam without constantly worrying about whether they are safe. So, The Lakes By Yoo is amazing as a luxury family friendly hotel. Not only is it stunning for the adults, but the 850 acres of land makes it exciting and safe for the kids. Whilst they enjoy their surroundings, you can make the most of the avant-garde design and playful features.
There are so many unique things to do when visiting, including an alfresco dinner and ziplining across the river that the hotel sits on the edge of. There are even bushcraft sessions available along with the option for nannies or babysitters to be booked so you can have some alone time. As much as we love our kids, you deserve a proper break! You could easily spend a week at this hotel as there is just so much to do.
The hotel also offers the best room service, meaning you can spend a few nights cosying up in the room eating delicious food (and having an early night, if you’re lucky). One of my cosy weekend away essentials would definitely be my Crumpet Cashmere loungewear set which would fit in perfectly in this laid back location.
All of these hotels provide the ideal combination of luxury and being family friendly. You want your kids to be able to relax and be comfortable just as much as you! For a country escape, head to Heckfield Place. For something closer to the sea, The Pig is ideal. Finally, for a serene retreat that is perfect for adventurous kids, go for The Lakes By Yoo. These are some of the best luxury family friendly hotels in the UK in my opinion, so I hope if you visit you have a lovely time!
