Don’t get me wrong, love and friendship are about so much more than gifts and love can’t be bought. But it can be so easy to get caught in the day-to-day life of work, kids, trying to have a social life and sometimes we can take our relationships for granted. Valentine’s Day provides a reminder to be grateful of our loved ones and show our significant other how much we really do appreciate them. So, despite the fact that love can’t be bought, a stylish new handbag or perfume can be bought, and a luxury gift could be the perfect present to treat your loved one this Valentine’s Day.
Let’s be honest, following the mayhem of Christmas, Valentine’s Day can sneak up on us, so I have made this luxury Valentine’s Day Gift Guide really simple, to make it as easy as possible for you to find the perfect gift, including:
- Something for her
- Something for him
- Somewhere you can go for a romantic getaway (even with the kids)
- Something you can make if you are staying in

Luxury Valentine’s Day Getaway (even with the kids)

Staying in for a Romantic Valentine’s Day Dinner
If your children are too young for a weekend getaway or a weekend away just isn’t on the cards for Valentine’s Day this year, don’t despair - you can still have a delightful dinner if you are staying in.
If you just want to sit back and relax this Valentine’s Day and don’t fancy cooking, Marks and Spencer usually run a Dine In for Two deal. The deal includes a starter, main, side, dessert, box of chocolates and bottle of wine, for a delicious Valentine’s Day dinner without the hassle of cooking.
Easy Recipe for a Luxury Valentine’s Day Dinner from Home
Cooking Valentine’s Day dinner for your partner is a lovely gesture, so get the kids fed and off to bed early so that you can spend some quality time together. Making your own Valentine’s Day dinner from scratch doesn’t have to be complicated… You can’t go wrong with curry, so here is an easy (and healthy) Burmese coconut kaukswe chicken curry recipe from @fopperholic that you and your partner can enjoy this Valentine’s Day:
- Season 400g of chopped chicken breast or thighs.
- Add 2 chopped onions, 5 chopped garlic cloves, 1cm of finely grated ginger to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth, add a little water if necessary.
- Add oil to a pan and add the onion mixture and cook on a high heat, stirring, for about 5 mins. Turn the temperature down to a medium heat and add the chicken and cook, turning occasionally, until it browns.
- Add 100ml of light coconut milk, 500ml of chicken stock, 2 tbsp medium curry powder, 400g of mixed vegetables - I love this recipe because you can add whatever vegetables you find in the fridge and it will still taste delicious. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat, simmer for 20 mins stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile cook 200g of dried thin noodles. Serve with coriander, red onion, boiled eggs, chilli and lime wedges.
For an extra sprinkle of romance, decorate the table with rose petals and crack open a bottle of champagne.
