Build You Kit And Offset Your Carbon

We are very focused on our emissions here at KeriKit and we are dedicated to taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint and also help to improve our planet too.

With this in mind we are proud to partner with Oblong Trees Ltd, A UK based, non profit organisation that will be planting the trees on our behalf in the UK and around the world. While we can’t calculate the EXACT carbon footprint created in the production, shipping and delivery of each bag, we feel that planting 1 tree per sale is a good start in making each sale carbon neutral. If you decide at checkout to add trees of your own, then we will match fund your contribution on top of the tree we are already planting on your behalf, so every piece of KeriKit will be offset even sooner!"

As a rough guide we are working on 1 tonne per bag, so 1 tree will offset 1 tonne over 40 years.  If 4 trees are planted per sale then in 10 years the carbon footprint will be offset and if 10 trees are planted then this will be offset in just 4 years and those trees can then continue to offset even more in the future.

We know its only a small step but it’s a start…

Materials

Leather

KeriKit sources the
best leathers most suitable for the job in hand. To be durable, long lasting and therefore looked after correctly, sustainable too. We have introduced our new Signature collection which uses less chemicals during the dying process and less water too.

We understand that the effects of eating beef is have a terrible affect on the world and we are
actively researching other material options to be as sustainable as possible.

However while meat is still being consumed and such huge levels and while the leather we use is a
bi-product of this, we will continue to offer leather in our collection as used properly and well cared for it can last you forever.

MATERIALS

Recycled PU, Leather, Nylon

We are constantly investigating other materials that we can use in our collections and  we really want to bring more choices to our collections. However we are also mindful that the bag needs to wear well and last, otherwise we are not acting with integrity if we launch a recycled material that doesn’t actually last or perform as is needed.

At the moment we are looking at recycled leather, recycled nylon and also recycled PU and will
update you further once we have made samples and tested each one.

Packaging

We are looking at our packaging to see if we can replace the polybags we use with something biodegradable and all our carton packaging is recycled. We chose not to use cotton dust bags as the non woven material we use is more sustainable and biodegradable than cotton.

Please ensure that your packaging is disposed of correctly to ensure it can be reused or recycled to carry on its lifecycle.

Our Supply Chain

Our collections are produced where our materials are sourced to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible. Some of our leather bags are produced in South China, in a small high quality factory we’ve had a long-standing relationship with for over 6 years and who make for other respected worldwide brands. We also work with an amazing leather Atelier in India who Keri has known for over 15 years. After more than a decade working together and supporting each other on various projects, we are glad to call them friends and we love the leathers they custom produce for us in limited edition runs.

We value each member of their staff as each one is a master craftsman, skilled in their individual roles and their contribution is what beings Keri’s designs to life.

Recycling + Upcycling

We are committed to reducing landfill through recycling and up-cycling. Bags that cannot be sold due to faults are repaired by us where possible and
donated to Smartworks, a local charity that helps vulnerable women back to work after a career break. You can find out more about this by clicking the link below.

Oblong (UK) Ltd are a data processing business trusted by large blue chip companies to improve their business data. They tried to calculate their carbon footprint and find a responsible supplier to help them become carbon neutral.
