As a mummy-to-be in the UK, and speaking from my personal situation, packing my hospital bag came filled me with excitement. As I packed it the first time round I remember thinking the baby grows and hats would soon be worn by my new baby. There was the all important birth plan that my husband and I had laboured over for hours to empower me so I felt in control (If I still had it I would share it with you all as it bordered on the ridiculous and was the polar opposite to the reality, but I will save that story for another blog ).
So, what was in my bag?!
Well, first time round I packed my Bose portable sound system, REN Grab & Go Kit, Lucozade, Coconut water, nuts, chocolate, Figleaves nursing nightie , Willow Cashmere wrap, silk pillow, muslins from Aden And Anais, slippers, dressing gown, magazines, and, Naty eco nappies.
I then had the twins and its funny how the bag changes with a little experience. Gone were the Lucozades and Coconut waters and instead there were two of everything for a start! I love the brand From Baby’s with love. All their profits go to support orphaned babies. I still had my old nightie (go for a dark colour!) and made do with everything else from the last time. My last few essentials were my Lanisoh Nipple cream, breast pads, maternity pads, an eye mask and of course my silk pillow.
When I saw the article from Wateraid I was moved to tears. As a mother I do cry at the smallest things nowadays but they are nearly always linked to subjects on amazing mothers or children in need.
It’s all too easy to focus on ourselves when we have our baby, and why not? It’s one of the most amazing experiences to become a mother. However in doing so I have found my eyes have been opened to what mothers around the world deal with and this article is a fine example!

Nobody should have to go without water. Mother or not. Every mother deserves a little luxury in their life on all levels. However, water should NOT be a luxury.
With this in mind throughout the month of March we are giving a little back to mothers around the world.
